The Grand Combin: An Iconic Adventure

Majestic and imposing, the Grand Combin is the emblematic summit of the Val de Bagnes and a true symbol for our guiding office. This impressive massif consists of three peaks – Combin de Valsorey (4,184m), Combin de Tsessette (4,141m), and Combin de Grafeneire (4,313m) – forming a nearly Himalayan-like ensemble.

The Meitin Ridge, wild and varied, is the classic and safest route to reach the Combin de Valsorey, before continuing to the Combin de Grafeneire via a snow-covered ridge.

For experienced mountaineers, a more challenging option is available: the famous full traverse. This true journey across all the peaks of the massif leads you down to the bottom of the Val de Bagnes for an unforgettable experience, marked by rappels and long descents.

Your outing

The adventure begins in Bourg-Saint-Pierre with an ascent to the authentic Valsorey Hut. Pre-dawn departure to climb the Meitin Ridge to the Combin de Valsorey, followed by the Combin de Grafeneire via a snow-covered ridge. Depending on the chosen route, return via the same path or continue the full traverse, including rappels and a descent to Lake Mauvoisin.
